Hungry With No Appetite, 2024
Hungry With No Appetite demonstrates missing the perfect moment. With twenty black and white photos, this photo series explains my frustration with procrastination and the hunger I feel I can’t fill. Like pausing a movie on an awkward frame, desiring to do it all yet waking up with nothing to do. Shot on 35mm film inside my bedroom and hotel rooms, reminiscent of early cinema before possibilities were endless, these images represent the limits I enjoy in life and how restriction can be both comforting and daunting. Using my sister, Abigail Doyle, as a muse, as I do in most of my work, I see this as a reflection of myself and our shared experience. The structure between jeans and linen, dirty and clean, sister and sister; the not-so-perfect middle ground.
